About The Designer
Ciara Brown wearing the versatile black & white bandeau tie top she designed and constructed herself.
Ciara Brown was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. At the age of eight, she taught herself how to sketch and hand sew. She often used scrap garments out of her own closet and turned them into handbags.
It was then her parents decided to buy her her first sewing machine which would lead to her future in the fashion and apparel industry.
After graduating High School, she moved to San Francisco and in Spring 2018, graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Apparel Design and Merchandising with and emphasis in Design at San Francisco State University. During her time at University, she styled mens wear for San Francisco Fashion Week, participated in the Fashion Network Association club on her campus, and created a collection for the Spring '18 Fashion Show at SFSU.
After graduating from University, Ciara moved back to Los Angeles and immediately obtained an internship with Designer and Project Runway Alum Char Glover at her design studio in downtown Los Angles. Ciara worked very closely with Char as she learned the in’s and out’s of what it takes to own and run a small luxury brand. After over a year as her intern, Ciara was hired as the Creative Design Assistant for RocknRemix, Char’s luxury brand. After nearly years with Rock N’ Remix, she left that role to become a Junior Design Assistant for a children’s/teens clothing brand called Self Esteem.
In 2021, Ciara decided to further her education in Apparel Design and Merchandising and pursued a Master of Science in the field at California State University, Northridge. During her time, she participated as a designer in the CSUN Trends Production, “Smoke & Mirrors: Fashion Show” where she created a six-look collection entitled “Blaque Avian.” While at CSUN, Ciara also wrote and defended her Thesis on “Examining Issues in Ready-to-Wear Women’s Apparel Garments” where she researched and analyzed the issues concerning size, fit, style, and function in ready-to-wear garments within the fashion industry.
After graduating in May 2023 with a BS in Apparel Design and merchandising, Ciara obtained a higher role at Lululemon as their Visual Merchandising Specialist after almost three years of working with them as an Educator and on the visual merchandising team. While working as a VM Specialist, Ciara also works for herself as a personal stylist and fashion consultant.
